An Ode to Phyllis Wheatley
by Remy Fab$$$
I know the struggle you went through
I know the sorrow you faced
You came an Ethiopian Princess
From the Ancient Hebrew race
You taught the truth to the white man
So impressed with your master of Words
You released the Goddess within them
And for that they silenced your voice
Upon your keen intellect
They built the new mason free
But the fear that Washington possesed
Killed your sons and your dream
I love you dear Phyllis, so wise yet once a slave
At twelve you were
more magnificent than Ovid
Truly you are a Hero...
in the land of the Brave
Your secrets are golden, but they speak loud and clear
I will ring the Mighty bell ..Shekinah Glory, my dear!
